4.8 from 135 reviews

This Praline Pecans recipe transforms simple pecan halves into a deliciously sweet and crunchy snack coated with a cinnamon-spiced sugar glaze. The pecans are lightly bound with egg white and bourbon (or water) before being oven-baked to perfection, creating a perfect treat for snacking or gifting.

Ingredients

Scale

Ingredients

  • 1 lb pecan halves
  • 1 egg white
  • 15 mL bourbon or water (or any liquid)
  • 150 grams granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • pinch fine sea salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 250°F (121°C). Convection setting is recommended to ensure even baking and prevent burning on the bottom of the pan.
  2. Prepare Egg White Mixture: In a medium to large bowl, beat the egg white together with the bourbon or water until the mixture is loose and runny. This will help the sugar and spices stick to the pecans.
  3. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a small bowl, whisk together granulated sugar, ground cinnamon, and a pinch of fine sea salt until evenly combined. This cinnamon sugar mixture will coat the pecans.
  4. Coat Pecans in Egg White: Add the pecan halves to the bowl with the egg white mixture. Stir well to ensure each pecan is thoroughly coated and wet.
  5. Add Cinnamon Sugar Coating: Sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture over the wet pecans and mix thoroughly so all pecans are evenly coated with the sugar and spice blend.
  6. Bake the Pecans: Spread the coated pecans out in an even layer on a large baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for 45 to 60 minutes. Every 15 minutes, use a spatula to flip and stir the pecans to ensure even browning and prevent sticking. Bake until the pecans are nicely browned and no wet spots remain.

Notes

  • Using bourbon adds a subtle depth of flavor, but water or another liquid can be used if preferred.
  • Make sure to spread your pecans evenly on the baking sheet to ensure uniform baking and prevent clumping.
  • Keep an eye on the pecans during baking to avoid burning, especially if not using convection.
  • Once cooled, store praline pecans in an airtight container to maintain crispness.
