Refreshing and naturally sweetened Peach Iced Tea featuring homemade peach simple syrup and brewed black tea, perfect for a summery beverage that balances fruity sweetness with robust tea flavors.

Ingredients

Scale

Peach Simple Syrup

  • 1 cup organic cane sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 ripe peaches, thinly sliced (plus more for serving)

Tea

  • 23 tablespoons loose leaf black tea (or 34 tea bags)
  • 8 cups filtered water

Instructions

  1. Make peach simple syrup: In a small saucepan, combine sugar, water, and the sliced peaches. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and gently crush the peaches with a wooden spoon to release their flavor into the syrup.
  2. Steep syrup: Once sugar has dissolved, cover the saucepan, remove it from heat, and let the mixture steep for 25-30 minutes to infuse maximum peach essence.
  3. Brew tea: While syrup steeps, brew the black tea in a large pot or tea maker using 2-3 tablespoons loose leaf tea or 3-4 tea bags per 8 cups filtered water. Steep for 4-5 minutes, adjusting quantity for desired strength without bitterness.
  4. Chill tea: Remove tea bags or strain loose leaves, then transfer brewed tea to a pitcher and refrigerate until cold.
  5. Strain syrup: After steeping, strain the peach simple syrup through a fine mesh strainer into a container, discarding or reserving the peach pieces for other uses like ice cream or oats.
  6. Serve: Pour chilled tea over ice and add fresh peach slices. Sweeten with the peach syrup to taste or serve syrup on the side to allow customization.
