Ingredients

Scale

Cream Cheese Filling

  • 2 (8 oz) packages cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Dough and Topping

  • 2 (8 oz) cans Pillsbury crescent dinner rolls
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar (for topping)
  • 2 Tbsp ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Prepare Oven and Cinnamon Sugar: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a small bowl, mix together 1/2 cup granulated sugar and 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon to create the cinnamon sugar topping.
  2. Make Cream Cheese Mixture: In a mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth and creamy. Add 1/2 cup granulated sugar, 1 egg, and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. Blend all ingredients together until well combined and creamy.
  3. Prepare Baking Pan: Spray a 9×13-inch baking pan with non-stick spray. Sprinkle half of the prepared cinnamon sugar mixture evenly on the bottom of the pan to create the first layer of flavor.
  4. Roll First Layer of Dough: Unroll one can of crescent dinner rolls onto waxed paper to form a flat layer. Carefully press this dough into the bottom of the prepared pan, over the cinnamon sugar layer, ensuring it covers evenly to form the crust.
  5. Add Cream Cheese Filling: Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the dough layer, smoothing the surface with a spatula for uniform coverage.
  6. Roll Second Layer of Dough: Unroll the second can of crescent dough onto waxed paper. Place this dough over the cream cheese layer, gently pressing to cover the filling completely.
  7. Top with Cinnamon Sugar: Sprinkle the remaining half of the cinnamon sugar mixture evenly over the top dough layer to add the churro flavor and sweetness.
  8. Bake the Bars: Place the baking pan in the preheated oven and bake for about 30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the cheesecake filling is set.
  9. Cool and Serve: Remove from oven and let the bars cool before cutting into 12 squares to serve. Enjoy warm or at room temperature.

Notes

  • Make sure the cream cheese is softened to room temperature for easy mixing and smooth texture.
  • You can use parchment paper to roll out the dough more easily and prevent sticking.
  • For extra flavor, consider adding a pinch of nutmeg or a splash of lemon juice to the cream cheese filling.
  • Store any leftovers covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Reheat in a warm oven or microwave briefly for a deliciously soft texture.
