Ingredients

Scale

Tea Base

  • 4 black tea bags
  • 6 cups boiling water

Syrup

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water

Fruit and Flavoring

  • 2 medium ripe peaches, pitted and diced
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice

To Serve

  • Ice cubes
  • Fresh mint leaves, for garnish
  • Peach slices, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Brew the Tea: Place the 4 black tea bags into 6 cups of boiling water. Allow the tea to steep for about 5 to 7 minutes, or until it reaches your desired strength. Remove the tea bags and let the tea cool to room temperature.
  2. Prepare the Peach Syrup: In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup sugar and 1 cup water over medium heat. Stir occasionally until the sugar has completely dissolved, creating a simple syrup. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  3. Mash the Peaches: Place the diced peaches into a bowl and lightly mash them with a fork or potato masher to release their juices, but keep some chunks for texture.
  4. Combine Ingredients: In a large pitcher, mix the brewed black tea, peach syrup, mashed peaches, and 1/4 cup lemon juice. Stir well to combine all flavors evenly.
  5. Chill the Tea: Refrigerate the mixture until it is thoroughly chilled, about 1 to 2 hours, to allow the flavors to meld together.
  6. Serve: Fill glasses with ice cubes, pour the chilled peach tea over the ice, and garnish with fresh mint leaves and peach slices for a beautiful and flavorful presentation.

Notes

  • The sweetness can be adjusted by adding more or less sugar syrup according to your taste.
  • If fresh peaches aren’t available, frozen peaches can be used but thaw them before mashing.
  • For an adult version, a splash of bourbon can be added to each serving for a Southern twist.
  • This tea is best consumed within 24-48 hours for optimal freshness.
  • To make a lower sugar version, reduce the sugar or substitute with honey or a sugar alternative.
