Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Set your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease or line a 9×9-inch baking pan with parchment paper for easy removal of the brownies.
  2. Melt butter and mix cocoa: In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Remove from heat and whisk in the cocoa powder until smooth and combined.
  3. Combine sugar and salt: Stir granulated sugar and kosher salt into the cocoa-butter mixture until well incorporated.
  4. Add eggs and vanilla: Beat the eggs one at a time into the mixture, ensuring each is fully incorporated before adding the next. Stir in vanilla extract.
  5. Incorporate flour and chocolate: Gently fold in the all-purpose flour until just combined, then fold in 1 ¼ cups of the coarsely chopped chocolate, saving the rest for topping.
