Simple Mummy Dogs are an easy and fun Halloween-themed snack made by wrapping hot dogs in crescent roll dough to resemble mummies. Perfect for kids and parties, this recipe yields crispy, golden-brown treats with minimal prep and bake time.

Ingredients

Scale

Ingredients

  • 8 hot dogs (1 package)
  • 8 ounces refrigerated crescent roll dough (preferably sheets)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to ensure it reaches the right temperature for baking the mummy dogs evenly.
  2. Prepare Crescent Dough: Unroll the crescent roll dough onto a clean surface. If using sheets, separate into strips about 1/4 inch wide so they can be wrapped around the hot dogs easily.
  3. Wrap Hot Dogs: Take one hot dog and begin wrapping the dough strips around it in a spiral pattern, leaving gaps here and there to mimic mummy bandages. Repeat this process for all 8 hot dogs.
  4. Bake Mummy Dogs: Place the wrapped hot dogs on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or lightly greased. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the crescent dough is golden brown and cooked through.
  5. Cool and Serve: Allow the mummy dogs to cool for a few minutes before serving. Optionally, add small dots of mustard or ketchup as “eyes” to complete the mummy look.

Notes

  • If crescent roll sheets are unavailable, unroll traditional crescent dough and cut into strips.
  • For gluten-free options, substitute crescent dough with gluten-free dough if available.
  • Add cheese strips inside the dough before wrapping for a cheesy twist.
  • Serve with ketchup, mustard, or your favorite dipping sauces.
  • Watch the baking time closely to avoid over-browning.
