Tea Ingredients

  • 6 pods of green cardamom
  • A pinch of saffron threads
  • 2 tsp loose leaf black tea or 2 black tea bags
  • 4 cups of water
  • 4 tsp organic sugar

Instructions

  1. Crush the Cardamom Pods: Gently crush the cardamom pods to release their flavor, being careful not to completely pulverize them into powder.
  2. Boil Water with Spices: In a medium saucepan, bring 4 cups of water to a boil. Add the crushed cardamom pods and a pinch of saffron threads to the water, then reduce the heat to let it simmer for about 3-4 minutes to infuse the flavors.
  3. Add Black Tea: Add 2 teaspoons of loose leaf black tea or 2 tea bags to the simmering water. Continue simmering for another 3 to 5 minutes depending on your desired tea strength.
  4. Sweeten the Tea: Stir in 4 teaspoons of organic sugar until fully dissolved, adjusting sweetness to taste if preferred.
  5. Strain and Serve: Remove the tea from heat, strain out the cardamom pods, saffron threads, and tea leaves or bags. Pour the tea into cups and serve hot for a fragrant and comforting experience.

Notes

  • You can adjust the amount of saffron depending on how intense you want its flavor and color.
  • If you prefer a stronger cardamom flavor, slightly crush the pods more thoroughly before boiling.
  • This tea can be served with milk if desired, though traditionally it is enjoyed without.
  • For a caffeine-free version, substitute black tea with rooibos or herbal tea and follow the same method.
