Ingredients

Scale

Ingredients:

  • 12 ounces lightly salted shelled pistachios
  • 1 milk chocolate bar, such as Hershey’s®, broken into pieces
  • 3/4 cup pistachio cream
  • 2 tablespoons tahini
  • 1 cup butter, melted
  • 1 (16 ounce) package frozen phyllo dough, thawed
  • 1 cup plus 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 cup honey

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Pistachio Filling: Grind pistachios in a food processor until finely chopped. Mix with pistachio cream and tahini.
  2. Layer the Baklava: Brush a baking dish with melted butter. Layer phyllo dough sheets, brushing each with butter, and sprinkle with the pistachio mixture and chocolate pieces.
  3. Bake: Repeat layering until all ingredients are used. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F for about 45 minutes or until golden brown.
  4. Make the Syrup: In a saucepan, combine water, sugar, and honey. Simmer until sugar dissolves and the mixture thickens slightly.
  5. Finish and Serve: Pour the syrup over the baked baklava. Let it cool before cutting into squares and serving.

Notes

  • You can adjust the sweetness by decreasing the amount of sugar or honey in the syrup.
  • For a decorative touch, sprinkle chopped pistachios on top of the baklava before serving.
