Ingredients

Scale

Base Ingredients

  • 3 cups cocoa Rice Krispies
  • 1 cup peanut butter
  • 1 cup milk chocolate chips

Decoration

  • 36 Cadbury mini eggs

Instructions

  1. Melt the chocolate: In a microwavable-safe bowl, melt the milk chocolate chips in 30-second intervals on low power. Stir well between each interval until the chocolate is fully melted and smooth.
  2. Combine peanut butter and chocolate: Immediately after removing the melted chocolate from the microwave, stir in the peanut butter until fully incorporated and smooth.
  3. Mix with cereal: Pour this chocolate-peanut butter mixture into a large bowl with the cocoa Rice Krispies. Stir well until all the cereal is evenly coated with the chocolate mixture.
  4. Prepare muffin tin: Lightly grease a 12-count muffin tin using butter or cooking spray to prevent sticking.
  5. Scoop mixture: Evenly scoop the coated cereal mixture into each muffin cup, filling them completely.
  6. Create nest shapes: Use a rounded measuring spoon or similar tool to gently hollow out the center of each cup, forming a bird nest shape with raised edges.
  7. Chill nests: Place the muffin tin in the refrigerator or freezer until the nests firm up and harden, which will take about 20-30 minutes.
  8. Add eggs: Once hardened, carefully place three Cadbury mini eggs into the center of each bird nest. Your nests are now ready to serve!

Notes

  • Store the nests in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
  • To freeze, place the nests in an airtight container and freeze for up to 1 month. Defrost in the fridge before serving.
  • Ensure the edges of the nests are high enough when shaping to prevent the mini eggs from rolling off.
  • For a richer chocolate flavor, try using dark chocolate chips instead of milk chocolate.
  • This recipe also works well using a mini muffin tin for smaller nests.
