    • 1 pound ground beef
    • 1 pound Italian sausage
    • 1 cup onion, chopped
    • 3 cloves garlic, minced
    • 28 ounces crushed tomatoes
    • 12 ounces tomato paste
    • 2 teaspoons dried basil
    • 2 teaspoons dried oregano
    • 1 teaspoon salt
    • ½ teaspoon pepper

Lasagna:

    • 12 noodles lasagna

Cheese Mixture:

    • 15 ounces ricotta cheese
    • 1 large egg
    • 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
    • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Garnish:

Instructions

  1. Brown the Meat: In a large skillet, cook ground beef, Italian sausage, onion, and garlic until meat is browned. Drain excess fat.
  2. Add Sauce Ingredients: Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper. Simmer for flavors to meld.
  3. Prepare Cheese Mixture: In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese, egg, and half of the mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses.
  4. Layer the Lasagna: In a baking dish, layer meat sauce, noodles, cheese mixture, and remaining cheeses. Repeat layers.
  5. Bake: Cover with foil and bake at 375°F for 25 minutes. Uncover and bake for an additional 25 minutes until bubbly.
  6. Rest and Serve: Let lasagna rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Garnish with fresh herbs if desired.
