Ingredients

Scale

Chicken and Seasoning

  • 2 tablespoons olive or avocado oil
  • 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon chili powder

Wrap Ingredients

  • 6 flour tortilla wraps, 8 inches
  • ½ cup salsa
  • ½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 avocados

Instructions

  1. Heat the skillet and season chicken: Add oil to a large skillet and heat it over medium-high heat. Season the chicken breasts on top with garlic powder, salt, black pepper, and chili powder. Ensure the oil is hot before adding the chicken to get a nice sizzle.
  2. Cook the chicken: Place the seasoned chicken breasts in the hot skillet. Sauté each side for 3 to 5 minutes until nicely browned and the chicken is fully cooked through (juices should run clear). Cooking time depends on thickness.
  3. Slice the chicken: Remove the cooked chicken from the skillet and let it cool slightly. Then slice each breast into thin strips to prepare for assembling the wraps.
  4. Assemble the wraps: Lay out the flour tortillas on a flat surface. Evenly spread salsa down the center of each tortilla, then sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese over the salsa. Slice the avocados and arrange the slices on top, followed by the sliced chicken.
  5. Fold the wraps: Carefully fold the bottom edge of each tortilla up over the filling, then fold in the sides to fully enclose the ingredients and create a neat wrap.
  6. Grill the wraps: Use the same skillet, adding a little more oil or applying cooking spray if needed. Place the wraps seam side down in the skillet and press gently as they cook. Grill on medium heat for about 3 to 4 minutes per side, flipping once, until the wraps are golden brown and the cheese inside has melted.
  7. Serve: Remove the wraps from the skillet and serve immediately, optionally with extra salsa or sour cream for dipping.

Notes

  • Use a non-stick skillet to prevent the wraps from sticking while grilling.
  • Make sure chicken is cooked through to an internal temperature of 165°F to ensure safety.
  • Avocados should be ripe but firm for easier slicing and better texture.
  • Feel free to substitute mozzarella with cheddar or a cheese of your liking.
  • These wraps can also be made ahead and reheated in a pan or sandwich press.
