Golden Greek Honey Pie, also known as Melopita, is a delicious dessert that combines the sweetness of honey with a creamy custard filling, all encased in flaky phyllo dough.

Ingredients

Scale

  • 8 sheets of phyllo dough
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup semolina flour
  • 3 large eggs
  • 3⁄4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1⁄2 tsp ground nutmeg
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Custard Filling: In a saucepan, whisk together semolina flour, eggs, sugar, milk, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Cook until thickened.
  2. Assemble the Pie: Layer phyllo sheets in a baking dish, brushing each with melted butter. Pour the custard filling over the phyllo layers.
  3. Bake: Bake the pie until golden and set.

Notes

  • Be sure to brush each phyllo sheet with melted butter to achieve a crispy texture.
