Gnocchi-Gulasch

A hearty and flavorful dish, Gnocchi-Gulasch combines tender beef with vegetables, herbs, and gnocchi in a rich tomato-based broth. Perfect for a comforting meal on a chilly day.

Ingredients

  • 500g beef (e.g. stew beef or beef shank), cut into cubes
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 onions, diced
  • 2 bell peppers, diced
  • 2 carrots, sliced
  • 3 garlic cloves, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon paprika powder (smoked or sweet, depending on preference)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 500 ml beef broth
  • 200 ml tomato paste or crushed tomatoes
  • 400g gnocchi (fresh or from the refrigerated section)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 12 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
  • A pinch of chili flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Ingredients: Cut the beef, dice the onions and peppers, slice the carrots, and chop the garlic.
  2. Cook the Goulash: Sear the beef, then sauté the onions, peppers, carrots, and garlic. Add spices, broth, and tomatoes, simmer until beef is tender.
  3. Add Gnocchi: Stir in the gnocchi and cook until tender.
  4. Serve: Garnish with parsley and chili flakes before serving.

Notes

  • You can customize the spice level by adjusting the amount of chili flakes and paprika.
  • For a thicker consistency, you can add a slurry of cornstarch and water towards the end of cooking.
