Fried Sliced Mushrooms with Ranch

A crispy and flavorful dish of fried sliced mushrooms coated in a seasoned flour mixture, served with a creamy ranch dressing.

For the Mushrooms:

  • 1 lb button or cremini mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cornmeal (optional, for extra crunch)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • Vegetable oil, for frying

For the Ranch Dressing:

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried dill
  • 1 teaspoon parsley
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 12 tablespoons milk (to adjust consistency)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Mushrooms: In a bowl, mix flour, cornmeal, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. In another bowl, whisk eggs and milk. Dip mushroom slices in egg mixture, then coat in flour mixture.
  2. Fry the Mushrooms: Heat oil in a pan and fry coated mushrooms until golden brown and crispy. Drain on paper towels.
  3. Make the Ranch Dressing: In a bowl, mix mayonnaise, sour cream, garlic powder, onion powder, dill, parsley, salt, pepper, and milk until smooth.
  4. Serve: Serve fried mushrooms with ranch dressing on the side.

Notes

  • Cornmeal is optional but adds extra crunch to the fried mushrooms.
  • Adjust the seasoning in the ranch dressing to suit your taste preferences.
