4.7 from 86 reviews

A decadent and flavorful Croissant Burger recipe combining juicy ground beef, caramelized onions, melted cheddar, and a tangy homemade sauce, all nestled inside buttery, flaky croissants.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Burger:

  • 2 croissants
  • 7 oz ground beef
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon balsamic vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 2 slices cheddar cheese

For the Sauce:

  • 1 tablespoon mayonnaise
  • ½ teaspoon mustard
  • ½ teaspoon tomato paste
  • ½ teaspoon Sriracha sauce
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon paprika

Instructions

  1. Prepare the caramelized onions: In a skillet over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter. Add the thinly sliced onion and cook gently until softened and beginning to brown, about 10 minutes. Stir in the balsamic vinegar, brown sugar, and water, then continue cooking until the onions are deeply caramelized and sticky, another 5-7 minutes. Set aside.
  2. Cook the beef patty: Shape the ground beef into a patty slightly smaller than the croissants. In the same skillet or another pan over medium-high heat, cook the patty for about 3-4 minutes per side for medium doneness, or longer if desired. Place the cheddar slices on top of the patty during the last minute of cooking to melt.
  3. Make the sauce: In a small bowl, mix together the mayonnaise, mustard, tomato paste, Sriracha, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika until smooth and well combined.
  4. Assemble the croissant burgers: Slice the croissants in half horizontally. Spread the prepared sauce evenly on both cut sides of the croissants. Place the melted cheddar beef patty on the bottom halves, top with caramelized onions, then cover with the top halves of the croissants.
  5. Serve immediately: Serve the croissant burgers while warm for the best flavor and texture experience.

Notes

  • For extra crispness, you can toast the croissants lightly before assembling.
  • Adjust the Sriracha quantity to control the spice level of the sauce.
  • Ground beef with about 20% fat content works best for juicy burgers.
  • Leftover caramelized onions can be stored refrigerated for up to 3 days.
