  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 16 slices Swiss cheese
  • 225 g ham, thinly sliced
  • Breading:

    • Peanut oil or vegetable oil, for frying
    • 125 g all-purpose flour
    • 4 eggs, beaten
    • 100 g panko bread crumbs
  • Creamy Dijon Sauce:

    • 3 tablespoons butter
    • 2 garlic cloves, minced
    • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
    • 480 mL milk
    • 60 g Dijon mustard
    • 100 g shredded Parmesan cheese
    • Salt, to taste
    • Black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the chicken: Season chicken breasts with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Cut a pocket in each chicken breast and stuff with Swiss cheese and ham slices.
  2. Breading: Dip stuffed chicken breasts in flour, then beaten eggs, and coat with panko bread crumbs.
  3. Fry the chicken: Heat oil in a pan and fry breaded chicken until golden brown and cooked through.
  4. Make the sauce: In a saucepan, melt butter, sauté garlic, whisk in flour, then gradually add milk, Dijon mustard, and Parmesan cheese. Season with salt and pepper.
  5. Serve: Plate the crispy chicken cordon bleu and drizzle with creamy Dijon sauce.

Notes

  • For a lighter version, bake the breaded chicken in the oven instead of frying.
