Chicken Cordon Bleu Stromboli is a delicious twist on the classic dish, featuring tender cooked chicken, savory ham, and melted Swiss cheese all wrapped in golden, crispy pizza dough. This stromboli combines the flavors of chicken cordon bleu into a convenient, easy-to-make handheld meal perfect for lunch or dinner.

Ingredients

Scale

Stromboli:

  • 1 lb pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
  • 2 cups cooked chicken breast (sliced or shredded)
  • 6 slices deli ham
  • 6 slices Swiss cheese

Spread:

  • 2 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise (optional)

Topping:

  • 1 tbsp melted butter
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp dried parsley
  • 1 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Prepare the dough: Roll out the 1 lb of pizza dough on a lightly floured surface into a large rectangular shape approximately 12×14 inches. This will form the base for the stromboli filling.
  2. Mix the spread: In a small bowl, combine the 2 tablespoons of Dijon mustard with 2 tablespoons of mayonnaise if using. Spread this evenly over the rolled-out dough, leaving about a 1-inch border around the edges to prevent leaking.
  3. Add the fillings: Layer the 2 cups of cooked chicken breast evenly over the spread, then add 6 slices of deli ham. Top the ham with 6 slices of Swiss cheese, making sure it covers the surface to allow for good melting.
  4. Roll the stromboli: Starting from one long edge, carefully roll the dough into a tight log, encasing all the fillings inside. Pinch the edges to seal the seam and tuck the ends underneath the roll.
  5. Prepare for baking: Transfer the rolled stromboli to a parchment-lined baking sheet with the seam side down to help seal the roll during baking.
  6. Brush topping: In a small bowl, mix the melted butter with garlic powder and dried parsley. Brush this mixture generously over the top of the stromboli to add flavor and promote browning. Sprinkle 1 tablespoon of grated Parmesan cheese evenly on top.
  7. Bake: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Bake the stromboli for 20-25 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and cooked through. Let it cool for 5 minutes before slicing.
  8. Serve: Slice the stromboli into 1- to 2-inch pieces and serve warm as a satisfying meal or appetizer.

Notes

  • You can substitute turkey or another deli meat for the ham if desired.
  • For a crispier crust, bake on a pizza stone or preheated baking sheet.
  • Adding mayonnaise to the mustard spread is optional but helps balance flavor and moisture.
  • Use freshly grated Parmesan cheese for best flavor on topping.
  • Store leftovers tightly wrapped in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheat in the oven to maintain crispiness.
