Ingredients

Scale

Chicken Filling

  • 2 cups cooked chicken, shredded or chopped (rotisserie works great)
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of chicken soup
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese, divided
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Dough

  • 1 tube refrigerated crescent rolls (8-count)

Optional Garnish

  • Chopped parsley for a pop of color

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Set your oven to 350°F (175°C) to ensure it’s ready for baking when your dish is prepared.
  2. Prepare the filling: In a medium bowl, combine the cooked chicken, cream of chicken soup, milk, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and half of the shredded cheddar cheese. Mix thoroughly to create a creamy, flavorful chicken mixture.
  3. Assemble the crescent bake: Unroll the crescent roll dough and separate it into the 8 triangles as pre-scored. In a greased 9×13 inch baking dish, arrange the crescent triangles so they form one complete layer with points overlapping slightly.
  4. Add the filling: Spoon the chicken mixture evenly over the arranged crescent dough in the baking dish. Then, sprinkle the remaining cheddar cheese on top of the filling for extra cheesiness.
  5. Top with remaining dough: Unroll the second tube of crescent rolls (if using an extra tube, or use the top triangles from the same package accordingly) and cover the filling with another layer of crescent dough triangles, pointing in the opposite direction to create a layered crescent effect.
  6. Bake the dish: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes or until the crescent dough is golden brown and fully cooked, and the cheese is bubbly.
  7. Garnish and serve: Remove from oven, let cool slightly, then garnish with chopped parsley if desired. Slice and serve warm for a delicious cheesy chicken meal.

Notes

  • Using rotisserie chicken makes this recipe quick and flavorful.
  • If you prefer, substitute cream of chicken soup with cream of mushroom or cream of celery.
  • For extra richness, add a teaspoon of Dijon mustard to the filling.
  • To make this recipe spicier, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or red chili flakes.
  • Make sure to grease the baking dish well to prevent sticking.
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 3 days and reheated in the oven.
