Char Siu Chicken is a delicious Chinese dish featuring tender chicken thighs marinated in a flavorful mixture of hoisin sauce, soy sauce, honey, oyster sauce, and Chinese five-spice powder, then baked or grilled to perfection.

  • 1 1/2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken thighs
  • 1⁄4 cup hoisin sauce
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Chinese five-spice powder
  • 1⁄2 teaspoon sesame oil

Instructions

  1. Marinate the chicken: Combine hoisin sauce, soy sauce, honey, oyster sauce, rice vinegar, garlic, Chinese five-spice powder, and sesame oil in a bowl. Add chicken thighs and marinate for at least 2 hours or overnight.
  2. Cook the chicken: Preheat the oven to 375°F. Place the marinated chicken on a baking sheet and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until cooked through, basting with the marinade halfway through.
  3. Optional: Grill the chicken for a charred finish.
